Music is a discipline that has definitely the function of relieving the lives of human beings, life would be heavier without.
Let’s take the example of a movie (where the music apparently does not have a big role) and you will notice that many times, a key element of the success of the it is the soundtrack.
If we go back in our timeline - even in the prehistoric time where, due to the lack of writing, we cannot reconstruct the sequence of events - we can observe that there was music involved people's lives.
Why are we absolutely sure that the music had its place (of honour I would say) during the cavemen era? Because in archaeological findings we found some painted walls of caverns, representing human figures in an apparent attitude of dancing with other people who listened to one side and probably sang. At that time, people were much more spontaneous and instinctive than nowadays and therefore, probably melodies, perhaps improvised on the spot, was the result of the emotions accumulated during the day, positives or negatives, were coming out with their improvised songs.
Much later (few years... more or less) the radio was invented, following the discovery of Hertzian waves. Of course this invention influenced the music’s role, as it seems to cover another role in the human society. At that time there were much more serious and important things to consider ... just like the radio.
It does not take long, however, and soon you'll find that with the radio, not only could launch calls for rescue or military orders to give away, but also convey beautiful songs so that, finally, it seemed that this invention was born only for the music and to that, the radio was the only thing missing from this art.
Also at that time the cinema was invented, if we can put ourselves in the mindset of the people of that time, we will notice that it had a “something” really great, considering that the images were in motion, and the marvel was truly amazing (see also the development that took this invention). Even in this case at the bottom, the music had nothing to do? But instead even before the invention of the soundtrack, just felt the need to accompany the short films of the time, with a little 'music' and then, putting on the side of the room, the audience in the dark posters would not be distracted, a pianist who was playing in the dark, lighting up the score with a little brightness in order to liven up the whole thing and, after the invention of the soundtrack, we may well see the development that took this class.
Even today this phenomenon is repeated again, and when I was a kid and the computer had not yet reached the modern levels, existed in the collective imagination, the expert computer, like a person completely out of touch, cold and calculating , where everything is reduced to a simple mathematical formula and there were no emotion in front of the calculation and reason, as well as being very pathetic, I had absolutely no idea about the existing of certain inventions like the computer, evolution (as taught by Darwin), was destined to supplant all that was human just because they are more sensitive, vulnerable, weak, etc..
I remember when I was a kid, my so called friends told me jokingly: "You and your music ... After entering in the computer’s era only this technological screen will count, and those like you, to the limit, can play courtyards and ask the charity” followed by a chorus of laughter... (as if the joke was original but instead, I have heard it thousands of times)
But then, once again, it repeats the phenomenon that restores everything and puts everything in its place, because after a few films made in tribute to the new invention (Computer) type: "2001, A Space Odyssey" (though I think we in 2012 ....), the results of an imagination full of prejudices and still lacks the knowledge and opportunities that these inventions can offer, we see the first music programs that just with the computer, implement and materialize the possibility that once really we do not even dream, emphasizing more the machine (or electronics), the human .... in humans.
Of course, the first music programs were very incomplete and limited, both in the ability to write notes on the staff, and as sound itself. I remember one of the first music programs used by me, I could write notes but Computer gave me the sharpened pitch or flattened, at its discretion, I also remember that the best sound I could get was to oboe, but I can assure that wasn’t much.
It was called Oboe because it was a sound that more or less comes close, but definitely was not the sound of oboe but something achieved artificially.
Now the computer sounds are recorded from a real instrument such as Guitar, Piano, Harp, etc.., This sound is recorded by the computer that will take it in its memory, after which the computer will do the rest. The computer only interested to know what is the exact shape of the sound wave of the sound emitted by the instrument (called stamp); once you put it in memory, it gives that sound back, exact number of molecular vibrations (sound waves) of the note you want to hear, and the result is achieved. For example, the note A of the second space in the violin key, the oscillations are 440 per second, in the case of acute LA, one above the staff with a cutting head (according to the musical lexicon), then the oscillations will be 880, and in the case of the low, what you find in the top line of the staff in Chiave di basso, the oscillations will be 220 ... Once I used to have a table where they had listed the numbers of molecular vibrations of each note ... I hope to find it
Each note has therefore an exact number of molecular oscillation (or vibration) calls "sound waves". Nowadays, even a deaf person can tune a piano, provided it is equipped with equipment that records the exact number of variations of each sound and transmits this number on the display.
Returning to the computer, with this further invention, to be added to the other (that are not recently) has already in memory the shape of the sound wave (through which it is possible to recognize the authenticity of an instrument sound) can create original sounds as the one of violin, piano,Clarinet, Oboe, etc.. Even if they are not 100% as quality, are still valid to 90% (and perhaps more) which is already a huge advantage. All sounds recorded from real instruments are grouped into libraries or sampled sounds which would mean: the best compromise between quality, price and efficiency practically something that will make you, with reason, satisfied. Only with this equipment, you can do very good jobs.
Here is that high technology integrates and develops, once again, the human side of the human being, because it was once necessary to have twenty person (or an orchestra) to make a certain kind of music. Now, however, it is sufficient to stand in front of the monitor with the music program opened, and if one has a little imagination music, can have fun to compose multiple voices when you can see (or hear) that something is wrong, try again in another way until you get what you want. With the orchestra, as you can imagine, it gets more complicated, and only those that were introduced in this art, could be facilitated.
It 'clear that the music, which was perfectly at home at the time of the caves, continues to be, when you watch a movie, listen the radio ... and now I feel perfectly comfortable with the computer... Maybe this art will have further modifications, suitable future lifestyles, but people will be still able to hear music, even if they woll be flying in Mars with a special Rocket... I mean, even one makes the comparison with a soup without salt, to a life without emotions, flat, etc. .... . Behold, I believe that a life without music, is equivalent to a soup without salt, even Jesus Christ could compare it, you eat it and it tastes "flat" lasts a moment, but a flat life, unemotional or, without salt, of which music is one of the most important components, lasting a lifetime.
